Calm Down, Apple Isn't Starting a Real Streaming Music Service [Apple]

For a long time now, many have speculated Apple might start their own "all you can eat" streaming music service to compete against the likes of Rdio, MOG and Rhapsody. But anonymous industry sources are telling the Financial Times that Apple has no plans to "cannibalize" their iTunes download service, and that the technology they acquired in their 2009 purchase of Lala will be used for "insurance." HTC Droid Incredible 2 shows up in Verizon's system

Well, look what we've got here! Seeing that HTC just introduced the Incredible S -- a world phone only available in the UK -- it was only a matter of time before the phone hit the stateside. A trusted tipster just hit us with screen shots of Verizon's internals containing a device dubbed HTC ADR6350. The other screenshot below has a listing for the HTC63503 with a description of "INCRD2." Putting two and two together, we'd say with great confidence that the Incredible 2 is coming to Verizon in the near future -- and we certainly wouldn't be surprised if it had something to do with that "buttonless" shot we saw a while back. Stay tuned as we try and dig up more details... and in the meantime, peep the second screenshot after the break!

Apple will take 30% of subscription fees from content-based apps like Hulu, Netflix

Apple has just announced that its recurring subscription plans will not only be available to magazine-type apps. Any content-based app, such as Hulu, Netflix or Spotify will be able to take advantage of Apple's App Store billing system.

The plot thickens, though: Apple has mandated that all content-based subscription services must enable in-app sign-up. In other words, if Hulu Plus is available for $7.99 from the Hulu website, users must also be able to sign up via the Hulu iOS app.

Apple, of course, will take its usual 30% cut of all subscriptions that originate from within iOS apps.
